Club playing times

Club sessions

Club sessions take place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Play at these sessions at present is Association Croquet. But all members are welcome and play and everyone who turns up in reasonable time should get a game.

Monday afternoons has always been our main club afternoon. Full lawn play will be prioritised, but there will always be at least one short lawn available.

Tuesday afternoons, priority is given to short croquet, though a full lawn may be available if all the lawns are not in short play.

Play begins at 2pm. The session usually lasts from two to three hours, though members are welcome to play for as long as they wish.

Saturday mornings sessions are from 10am to 12pm, short or long croquet according to demand.

Club sessions are organised with the number of participants in attendance in mind. Opponents are generally chosen by the draw of a card. It’s fun and a good way of learning when you play against a range of players. However, if you prefer to play with someone you know well then that can also be accommodated.

Play at other times

Members can play either association croquet, or golf croquet, or just practise outside of club day. The lawn booking system shows what’s available and when. The Swanland U3A group use the lawns on Friday afternoons to play Golf Croquet, the lawns are mowed and maintained on a Tuesday and Friday mornings, and there are league matches played throughout the season which usually take place on Sundays, though not every Sunday. (Prior notice of these events is given on the booking system so check the system before you arrive.)
